The photo above is the 2-4-4-2 Logging locomotive which ran west of Grays Harbor, WA up until the mid 1950's. It sat in storage for  more than 50 years before being reassembled and run on the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad this past weekend. Member Ed Berntsen took the photo on 3-17-19.

We will not be meeting in May as this comes when many members will be traveling to Utah for the National NRHS Convention May 7-11. We will have a June 1st with a guest speaker.

We are currently looking for teenage students between the ages of 14 and 19 who are interested in learning about railroading from the ground up. The National Railway Historical Society offers RailCamp for the ages mentioned above. The date for the West Coast camp is in late July and there are openings. For details go to for details and application forms.

The Chapter is working on a trip to Bellingham by train with a visit to the Bellingham Railroad Museum and a visit to the Lake Whatcom Railroad. We will keep you posted on the details. Members will get first choice to go, but if room remains we will take others.

The NRHS convention is going to be held in Ogden, UT, May 7-11 in conjunction with the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike. There will be a banquet sponsored by both the Southern Pacific Historical Society and the Union Pacific Historical Society. Union Pacific will send the Big Boy 4014 and Northern 844 to Ogden for the celebration. It is the first running of the recently restored 4014. Since these giant locomotives were taken out of service in 1959, fifty years ago, I am sure that not many have ever seen one operate. Consider joining NRHS so you can attend.

Our meetings are held the first Saturday of each month at 11:00 AM at the Pacific Northwest Railroad Archive located at 425 SW 153rd Avenue in Burien, WA. You can call 503-710-4467 if you need details

We have books for sale and have added the file to the news and events page. The prices are listed on the line of each book and do not include shipping. If you find 3 of the $10.00 books we will  package them for $25.00. We will be glad to mail them to you or meet you to deliver them. We do accept credit card using the Square. Sales tax will be added to all non-cash sales for Washington State residents.
